The film student and avid cyclist spent the last months of 2007 making Pedal Power: Critical Mass Toronto, a short documentary on the city's once-monthly, two-wheeled takeover of major routes in the downtown area, which will play tonight as part of Toro

"The idea was to take our bicycles and tricycles and park in the metered car spaces in Kensington," says Carriere. "We would pay the meter and use the time to have lunch and listen to music.

Johnston was one of 2,850 cyclists who entered the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a fundraising event for Toronto's Princess Margaret Hospital, one of the leading cancer research centres in the world.
