The Decision to Enforce Copyright of the Design

I designed the I Bike T.O. design in February 2006. As such, I feel it is my reponsibility to ensure some control over how it is used and profited from as cycling gets more popular in Toronto. I think it would be inappropriate if some "Joe Schmoe" or corporation used the design to make money without it benefiting the cycling community in Toronto.

Current Merchandising

The only thing that I'm okay with regarding the logo at present is anything sold through the spreadshirt.com online site, as I've designed everything on there. Therefore, I'm formally asking that if you are working on merchandising using the logo to please stop. My reasons for this are below.

Future Merchandising

In terms of future merchandising and any other use involving the logo, as official owner of the logo I feel I have a responsibility to not only myself but the Toronto bike community at large to ensure that it is used in the most beneficial way possible. I will be co-ordinating that and making any such merchandise available to groups such as TaketheTooker, BikePirates, CBN, TBN, the City of Toronto, or any other bike groups or other local organizations that wish to use it (assuming my approval is given). This will allow any financial benefits to be enjoyed by appropriate groups and organizations.

Thanks for your attention to this important information.

Happy Biking,

Joe.

As a former Torontonian and current New Yorker you should create an I "bike" NY design, it'd be big hit.
