Just got this notice of 2 cool Bike2York events in the ol' inbox:

When: Wednesday May 30th, 11:30 AM - 2 PM

Celebrate Cycling at York U:

What: complimentary lunch of bagels, coffee & juice from Great Canadian Bagel York Lanes; free tune-ups by a bike mechanic; a bike tour of campus; and a chance to connect with the York University cycling community.
When: Tuesday June 5th, 12-4 PM
Where: York Lanes / Vari Hall (?)

"Bike to York" is an loose organization of cyclists and advocates of sustainable transportation which briefly came together during the winter semester of 2007 at York University.

We exist to extol the benefits of cycling for transportation and leisure: biking increases ones personal health and fitness, is more environmentally sustainable than public transit or personal car transport, and contributes to community (and campus) health overall. It is an affordable and efficient way of getting around, and in terms of speed is comparable to driving or transit.

Bike to York also works with an organization called "Smart Commute – North Toronto, Vaughan" which also promotes bicycle transportation.
